![]() However, as Dynojet (the maker of PVCX & Power Commander) is constantly reverse engineering Indian/Bosch Engine Control Module (ECU) to unlock new adjustment variables, the odds are, your tuner does NOT know what all the variables are capable of achieving. The PVCX do offer hundreds, if not thousands, of additional variables so if the tuner knows what they are doing, the custom tune will be much more refined. It is true that there is nothing that is physically installed on the bike, however, the mechanics of custom tuning remains the same. You might be thinking, “I’m using Power Vision CX (PVCX) so it’s a different story.” Ask your tuner how many Thunder Stroke Indians they have tuned? Unless they have done dozens of theses bikes, the tuner is learning on the job. So, the skill level of your local tuner is a critical factor in choosing the right workshop. I have had a full custom dyno tune done years ago and had it revised dozen times (cost me over $2,000 including Power Commander + AutoTune), but as the weather changed, the tune started pinging and misbehaving. Having a local dyno tune can also come with its own issues. ![]() Is the saving really worth it? Only the individuals can answer that. I think the local dyno tune is about $700 - $800? They do all the work. Also, can the owner perform the road test consistently? What if the terrain changes and the road starts going uphill or downhill? What if the reading was taken in hot weather? How would the bike behave in 6 months? Will the tuner prepared to adjust their tune again in 6 months? The situation might be different if the owner can use a dyno machine and take readings every time, but most owners don’t have access to a dyno, over several days. More specifically, the speed limit on the public road and not having access to certain types of roads. The weak link, as I see it, is the owner. (4) The revised tune is installed on the bike, and step 2 and step 3 are repeated a dozen times until the owner and the tuner are happy with how the bike behaves. (3) The owner will upload files back to the tuner, and they will adjust the tune. (2) The owner would be asked to ride in a particular manner to record the readings across the rev range. That may be already tweaked ‘somewhat’ by the tuner, OR it may just be a download tune. As far as I am aware, remote tuning appears to involve (1) The ‘base tune’ compatible with your bike’s mods will be provided by the tuner. MountainMan - and anyone else who has used the service - can you please comment further on value, service, process, etc? I have not used Craig’s service, so this is not specifically about his services. ![]() It looks like it will be about $AUD433 - which seems fairly expensive. JuanPoop wrote: I am thinking about using Craig's remote tuning service (via FuelMoto). Better than a "canned" tune and far better than stock. Having said that, for the vast majority of you guys a narrowband tune will produce awesome results. It is somewhat problematic with the 111 to use this kit as (unlike the 106) you guys have 12mm O2 sensors and the widebands are 18mm, so you would need to have 18mm bungs welded into your head pipes. The same service is also pertinent to wideband tuning, but for that you would need the WBCX kit.expensive to buy but maybe available to hire (I have one). The tuning guy is a Roadmaster owner himself. Having used this on my Victory I can vouch for the huge improvement in the way your bike performs. You ride the bike whilst recording logs, email them to the US, receive a modified tune.and repeat until he (and you) are happy. It utilises the narrowband sensors of the 111 and the data logging capability of the PVCX. The most basic service involves no more than buying the PVCX and the tuning option.that is all you need. They can tune your Indian (or Victory) from the other side of the world.
